The Synthesis
Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) specify what will be built and why. Marty Cagan argues that traditional PRDs (feature specifications) should be replaced with outcome-based briefs. For PMs, the modern PRD answers: What problem are we solving? For whom? How will we measure success? What are we NOT doing? Amazon's 'working backwards' press release and Intercom's 'Job Stories' are alternatives to traditional PRDs.
